Mercedes-Benz presented the new SLK

Mercedes-Benz SLK The exterior design of the new Mercedes-Benz SLK is characterized by classic roadster proportions, with a long hood, a rear-positioned compact passenger compartment and a short rear end.

The front end takes inspiration from the recent Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and from the legendary 190 SL from the 1950s: it has a new radiator grille that bears the new brand look, rearward light-catching contours and the Mercedes-Benz star located a prominent central position.

The headlights adopt all-LED technology.

The ventilation grilles in the front wings with a chromed fin are reminiscent of  the famous Mercedes-Benz roadsters of the 1950s.

Among the efficiency-driven improvements are the hood and wings made of aluminum and the drag coefficient, that was reduced from 0.32 to 0.30. The interior is characterized by brushed aluminum details, partially inspired by those of the SLS.

The SLK will be offered with a range of three different roof types: the base version is a traditional roof painted in the vehicle color; the second variant is  panoramic vario-roof with dark-tinted windows; and the third option is a panoramic vario-roof equipped with the Magic Sky Control system, capable of changing its opacity at the press of a button.

At launch, Mercedes-Benz will offer a range of three models: the SLK 200 with a 184 hp 1.8 liter engine (0-100 km/h in 7 seconds, top speed of 240 km/h), the SLK 250 with the same engine tuned up to 204 hp (100 km/h in 6.6 seconds and a top speed of 243 km/h) and the SLK 350, powered by a 3.5 liter V6 unit with 306 hp (0-100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h).

All the engines feature direct injection and start/stop system and can be coupled with a manual gearbox or with an optional seven-speed automatic transmission. The new SLK can already be ordered, with prices starting from 38K Euros.
